With Gratitude

This summer has been a wonderful time of rest and reflection for me. The time spent with my family was lovely! I was also able to work out some other things, which brings me to the reason for this post.

It is with very mixed emotions that I announce that I will no longer be making cakes. It has been such a pleasure and a privilege to provide tasty and beautiful treats for so many people over the past few years, but I am not able to continue. There are about a hundred little reasons I could give for this, but it was primarily about my health.

Around the time I started doing cakes I discovered that I cannot tolerate gluten. Ironic, right? Over time I have discovered just how difficult it is to avoid the stuff. In spite of my efforts I was still finding myself ill on a pretty frequent basis. I decided that for the summer I needed to try removing all gluten containing items from the house and see how I did. The result of this experiment is the reason I am no longer making cakes; I feel fantastic!

As much as I am sad about no longer being able to provide the celebration centrepiece for all those special occasions, I am beyond delighted with how healthy, happy and energetic I am feeling. I am also excited about some new adventures that I will be taking through the upcoming year. (I won’t get into all of that here, but feel free to ask me about it!)
